Once Again

beautiful days

  • I’m still learning Korean. I’ve only studied it for 2 years and I thought the best practise (or is it practice?) was to try and translate some things.
  • Translations are done by me with the help of several online dictionaries and translators.
  • If you have some corrections (and no doubt there will be some) please leave a comment.
  • PLEASE DO NOT RE-POST THESE ENTRIES ANYWHERE because they are mostly likely wrong in so many parts and I don’t think I can stomach the embarrassment. XD
  • If you want to re-post an entry please ask first in the comments. If I don’t think I’ve done too badly then I may give you permission. Chances are, you can find a better translation elsewhere!

Who is 2009’s most “stylish guy”? … from F4 to Go Su

    December 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

    Date: 09/12/09

This year in televised dramas the sole “stylish guys” were many. “Stylish guys” is a term that refers to male actors that dress stylishly or those can wear any clothes on the body coolly. Here “ganji” means “feeling, atmosphere” which comes from the Japanese word “kanji”.

2009’s “ganjinam” started with the KBS drama “Boys Over Flowers”’s F4. Armed with a tall stature and beautiful flower-like features, these 4 “young masters” entered and shook the hearts and minds of the Republic of Korea’s noonas and all at once the syndrome and the chase for popularity began. They wore school uniforms, suits as well as private clothes beautifully and they showed a perfect figure.

SBS drama “Cain and Abel”’s So Ji Seob is no exception. So Ji Seob was originally nicknamed “soganji” like the word called “ganji” and is fitting for a man*. In the drama So Ji Seob plays a doctor wearing a white gown with style. He came from being a model wearing different clothes stylishly too and was handsome. His “ganji” remains unchanged like a sandstorm bearing down on the desert.

“Ganjinam” SBS drama “City Hall”’s Cha Soong Won continues this. The deputy mayor dreaming of being a serious President, “Jo Guk”, the passionate performing Cha Soong Won often pulled stares with his fitted dress suits. He, in addition to “ganjinam”, is called a “sold out man” (a man with an owner), even in middle age he obtained the nickname “flower middle age” for being an invariably handsome man.

In addition, MBC’s “Queen of Housewives”’s “Tae Bong Yi” Yoon sang Hyeon and “Won Dal Su” Wo Ji Ho, SBS “Dream”’s sports agent Ju Ji Mo are also going after the “ganjinam”’s fame.

Currently, dramas that “ganjinam” appear in are represented by Kim Soong Woo in KBS’s “IRIS”. Kim Soong Woo in the early part of the drama from the time he appears obtained the nicknames “crazy presence” and “a storm came”.

He received the role of North Korean Intelligence Pak Cheol Yeong because of his charisma and his presenting a strong figure. The drama almost finished, even now his “ganji” continues to flood his acting.

Now “ganjinam”’s quarterly report has come to Go Su. In the newly started SBS drama “Will it snow for Christmas?” Cha Kang Jin received the role as Go Su. As soon as the drama broadcasted a new “ganjinam” emerged.  From the first appearance of Go Su, as a genius architect, he draws the audience’s interest. He wore a black suit showing off his figure and on the 3rd December’s broadcast Go Su’s shower scene became public and left many female fans shaken. Now, in the final broadcast of the drama, Go Su in the future would like to see even more beautiful “ganjinam” in another reborn, imaginative drama.

*anthing asterisked means I’m unsure of the translation. That said, there should be asterisks everywhere.

NOTE: I go so tired and lazy at the end of this. This was very difficult to translate so yes,  there will be errors. Things lost in translation. XD
